Your Story Isn’t Boring

In a world full of infinite stories of every kind, you may feel self-conscious enough to keep it yourself. But each story sheds greater light on the world we live in. Every story, big or small, is important and worth telling.

Every single person you see, meet, talk to or interact with has a story. Several years ago I stumbled across the word “sonder,” which represents the dawning realization that every single person in the entire world is currently living a life as full, vivacious and rich as your own.

Our tagline is “Storytellers for Hire.” Since I began writing at Boileau I’ve realized just how many stories there are to tell in the world. That is to say, there are infinite stories, from the simplest to the incredibly complex, and every story deserves its proper telling.

Why we love this work

One of the best parts of my job is getting to interview people, including our clients, their employees and customers, and sometimes my own coworkers. It’s not uncommon for these individuals to feel self-conscious about telling their stories. When they’re afraid their story is boring, I can hear it clearly in their voice.

What they often don’t realize is that our team isn’t just listening because we have to. We’re genuinely interested in it! Even when interviewing several individuals on the same topic, each person brings their unique perspective to the table. We all process and relay information differently, and those differences help to create a more dynamic storytelling experience.

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that no one will find their story interesting, or that people won’t care when we tell their story. In the right format, every story is fascinating. There will always be someone who cares about your story. Oftentimes finding the right way of telling it is half the battle, and that’s where we come in!

How to tell it?

Often, it takes knowledge and experience to know right away the best way to tell a story. What’s the best medium? What level of emotion suits the conversation? How will different tones of voice impact the perception of the person on the receiving end? That’s where our team’s expertise comes into play, with individuals specializing in storytelling in each of these areas to tell each story to the best of our ability.

Regardless of how we tell the stories that cross our desks, each story we send into the world provides value not only to our clients but to the individuals who hear them. Each is worth telling in its own right, and it’s an incredible privilege to be the authors with the metaphorical pens.
